Crazy LEGO

Un travail surprenant par un artiste américain Nathan Sawaya qui réalise des structures et sculptures en LEGO depuis 2000. J'avoue que j'ai un penchant pour la première photo ci-dessus qui fait un bon lien avec le blog mais les autres sont aussi géniales.

Dynamo World, Soon Online

If you havn't heard of this talented English magician, you sure will ... sooner than you think.

He has kept on becoming more and more famous thanks to his passion for magic since he was a child and his numerous surprising videos on Internet.

I had posted many of his tricks such as the one where he picks up a mobile phone through a TV screen (click here) or the one where he changes people's facebook status by waving his hand on their computer screen (click here). He even made an amazing professional video : his Showreel 2010.

He has a new website coming up and here is a video from a few days ago of Dynamo performing in aid of Sport Relief for Robbie Williams, Davina Mccall & James Corden. Enjoy !

Many magicians have influenced me throughout the years, I have been performing. They have made me understand more about magic, more about others and more about myself.

Dynamo is one of them and I had the chance to meet him once when I was in London. It was for Xavier's birthday, my street magician accomplice and dear friend. The encounter was really interesting, and I can tell you that Dynamo is very talented and open about his art and passion for Street Magic.

I think he pushed Magic a step further and I am glad to write about this cool magician who is going to go far and beyond. Thank you for the inspiration, mate !

Fake or Not Fake ?

BMW uses a famous magic trick to advertise its Motorrad campaign. It doesn't really matter if it is fake or not, the idea is cool. Have a look !

I start calling it Magic Marketing since a lot of brands such as LEGO or Samsung (see Samsung ad here) have used this art to communicate creatively about their products. It is usually really well done and original.

Réalité ou Illusion !

Je viens de tomber là-dessus et j'ai un peu du mal à en croire mes yeux. Les 2 peintures au-dessus, oui ce sont biens des peintures, font partie d'un courant que l'on appelle l'hyper-réalisme. Si vous voulez en voir d'autres, suivez ce lien. C'est très impressionant !

Dans un autre style et pour prendre à contrepied les conventions, Alexa Meade a créé et travaillé sur des objets en 3D avec de la peinture acrylique. Le résultat est saisissant et je crois que s'il n'y avait pas les photos avec des gens normaux autour, on ne ferait pas la différence.

Eric Mead @ TED

Eric Mead is a magician and position himself in the exclusive mystery entertainment (nice phrasing by the way, clear and to the point). He did an intervention @ TED where he talked about placebos and showed a nice needle trick. Even will he explain one.

If you are about to eat ... perhaps it is better to wait before watching ... !

TED often invites magicians ; David Blaine has given a speech where he talked about how he trained to hold his breath for 17min under water ... you can watch his TED Talk here. It is unbelievable !

Let me present you the "Survolt", a concept-car designed by Citroën. It has been displayed at the 80th Geneva Motorshow which is taking place right now and has started just a few days ago. The "Survolt" is a small sports electrical car with a highly high-tech. Impressive, isn't it ?

This Is What Dancing Is About ...

Let me present you the LXD, Legion of Extraordianory Dancers, taking part in a TED talk to show that dance has so much evolved that the next generation will have to face a complete new challenge since the level is so high and requires great skills and great ideas.

For now, the LXD are here. The moves and choregraphies are amazing. Watch especially the mechanical guy (4'30) and the last choregraphy (11'00) with all the performers, the music is mesmerising, so are the dancers !

Typographic Playing Cards

Magic Show @ Les Cariatides, Paris

Mardi dernier s'est déroulé un spectacle de magie aux Cariatides.

En effet, on organise avec des amis magiciens (Amin, Sidney, Francisco) un spectacle dans ce bar tous les 1er mardis du mois. La salle était complète et ravie. Il y avait une ventriloque, un mentaliste et des magiciens de close-up dont je fais partie.

Nous avons nous aussi passé un très bon moment en votre compagnie et nous vous remercions d'être venus et de votre participation. On espère vous voir la prochaine fois le mardi 6 avril 2010.

Alors pour la recette de cette soirée magique et d'un spectacle réussi, on avait comme ingrédients :

- Un présentateur cassé mais en forme, des magiciens talentueux, une grande mascotte qui parle !

- Des tours de magie visuels et surprenants !

- Des cartes, des ballons, des fruits, des clés, des téléphones portables, des stylos, des calculettes, ... !

- Un public enthousiaste et captivé !

- Une belle scène et une ambiance ... magique !

The Dharma Initiative Trick

Comme vous le savez, la sixième et dernière saison de LOST est en cours. Et si vous ne le saviez pas, le Président Obama, lui, était au courant et a même déplacé un de ces discours nationaux pour ne pas le faire en même temps que la diffusion du double épisode événement débutant la série cette année.

Le dénouement de cette aventure si prenante nous sera donc bientôt révélé. Il devait n'y avoir que 3 saisons à la base mais force de son succès, on est maintenant à 6. Personnellement, je préfère m'attendre à peu de réponses dans cette saison plutôt que d'être déçu mais je reste un fan inconditionnel et j'ai hâte d'y être. Cette année, j'ai même décidé que je me ferai un marathon LOST de toute la saison le jour où le dernier épisode sortira.

Je fais donc une pause pour vraiment profiter de cette dernière saison et j'espère qu'elle sera à la hauteur. En attendant, voici une vidéo de la Dharma Initiative qui vient d'être retrouvée ... quelque part ... Namaste !

La série à commencer avec quelques naufragés sur une ile déserte et, bien qu'on ne laissait pas présager ce genre de fantaisie, on en est maintenant aux voyages spatio-temporels, à l'immortalité, et pleins d'autres choses mystiques et paranormales ...

Tant de sujets dont je n'aurais jamais soupçonné la présence lorsque j'ai regardé le pilote de la saison 1. Alors c'est vrai j'ai failli arreter plusieurs fois parce que ca n'avançait pas mais je n'ai pas réussi et beaucoup de fois je me suis laissé surprendre par la tournure que prenait les événements. Alors, pour ou contre LOST ? Seulement la fin nous le dira d'ici quelques petits mois, en tout cas, ils ont réussi leur coups et je n'ai plus qu'une chose à dire : I WANNA KNOW !

Blackpool 2010

Last months some magician friends went to Blackpool where a magic convention is held every year. These conventions are a gathering of magician and people working in the industry of the art to share and perform their techniques. It is usually a bit expensive to attend to such conventions but the knowledge and the people you meet is completely worth it.

Famous magicians such as David Williamson or even Bebel gave lectures about their magic and the city is filled with pub crawling magicians. This following video is a proof of the aftermath of such a magic communion.

The takes are awesome and everything is so flawless. Amazing !
